The holiday season is upon us. And while many of us will use this time of year to partake in feasts and seasonal festivities, there are millions of hungry children across the country who aren’t getting the resources they need.

Over the years, childhood hunger in America has reached epidemic proportions. In fact, more than 16 million kids aren’t getting the food they need. 

Recognizing the problem is one thing. Doing something about it is another. At 3 Birds, we’re encouraging our employees and neighbors to donate to our Holiday Food Drive for TABLE, a local non-profit serving our community’s hungry children. From now until November 25, we’ll be accepting donations for TABLE at 3 Birds HQ, located at 505 W Franklin Street.

Most Needed Food Items:

  • Low-Sodium Chicken, Vegetable, or Tomato Soup
  • Canned Tuna or Chicken
  • Boxed Mac & Cheese
  • Canned Veggies
  • Canned Beans
  • Whole Grain Rice (Boxes)
  • Canned Fruit or Applesauce Cups
  • Peanut Butter
  • Instant Oatmeal Packets
  • 100% Juice, Low Sugar Juice Boxes
  • Non-Refrigerated Milk Boxes
  • Any Produce Items

TABLE is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide healthy, emergency food aid every week to hungry children living in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, NC. In these two communities alone, 30 percent of children rely on school lunch programs for meals. Without TABLE’s help, these children can’t count on meals outside of school.

For co-founders Kristen and Layton Judd, support for TABLE is a family tradition. Kristen and Layton, along with their children Monte, Clementine, and Tallulah, volunteer year-round packing lunches for their organization. “The number of children who would go hungry without TABLE’s services is staggering,” said Kristen. “We’ve always felt passionately about sharing our gifts with the community—as a family and as a company—and it’s an honor to bring more awareness to TABLE’s critical mission.”

This holiday season, we at 3 Birds want to do our part in giving back to our community, and we encourage all of you to do the same in yours.
